Coach Cookie: Common-Sense Leadership for the WV House of Delegates, District 59

LEADERSHIP THAT SHOWS UP FOR DISTRICT 59

Coach Cookie is trading the sidelines for the House of Delegates to bring common-sense solutions to Charleston. He understands that leadership isn’t about power—it’s about responsibility and results for our neighbors.

Coach Cookie has spent decades on the sidelines working with young people, teaching the importance of hard work, discipline, and accountability. As a longtime coach and lifelong West Virginian, he understands that leadership isn’t about power — it’s about responsibility and earning trust.

Now, he’s bringing that same common-sense approach to the House of Delegates. Coach Cookie believes government should work the way a good team does: show up prepared, do the work, and be accountable to the people you serve. He knows this community because he’s lived and worked here his entire life, and he’s ready to put people ahead of politics.

Coach Cookie is a husband, father, pawpaw, and lifelong West Virginian. He’s been married to his wife for 41 years, and together they raised three children. Like many West Virginia families, they’ve known both joy and hardship — experiences that shaped his character, strengthened his faith, and deepened his commitment to putting people ahead of politics. Today, he and his wife are proud grandparents to six grandchildren, and that sense of family and legacy guides the way he serves his community.

Our Priorities

Kids First

Coach Cookie believes kids should always come first. Too many young people are struggling with mental health challenges, addiction in their families, unstable housing, and many dealing with a broken foster care system. We have to focus on lowering youth suicide rates, improving graduation outcomes, and making sure every child has the support they need to succeed.

Accountability That Delivers

Taxpayer dollars should be spent where they make the biggest difference in people’s lives. Coach Cookie believes in prioritizing basic needs — safe roads, clean water, and strong public services — instead of letting critical infrastructure fall behind. Accountability means setting clear priorities and making sure resources actually reach our communities.

Strong Communities, Real Support

Our unhoused population is getting younger, addiction continues to touch too many families, and too many people are falling through the cracks. Coach Cookie supports practical solutions that strengthen schools, expand access to treatment, and help communities respond before problems become crises no matter where you live.
